Events Update
Training cancelled Wed evening 13th because Marist College are competing in the senior schools cup in Galway. Training as normal on Sat 16th at 10.00
The outstanding league match with Castlebar will not now be played.
We will play Westport in Connacht Cup on Saturday 23rd with a 1.00 kickoff. Please let us know now if you cannot attend this cup match.

Social Trip
The annual social trip by the Buccs 16s started with a very successful match with Barnhall RFC at the lovely Leixlip grounds and from there on to the Ryevale Tavern for a very enjoyable team meal.
Having extradited the bus from the carpark courtesy of a little ingenuity by the tour orgainiser Tom O'Neill it was on to RDS for a very comprehensive victory by Leinster in what proved to be a very cold evening for all.
As our resplendent coach Brian Moore headed for the bright lights of the city and the tourning party headed home on the warm bus the genearal concensus was that of a great day out.
A special thanks to Tom for organising the tour and also to the club for providing the bus and making the social day out financially viable for everyone.
Events Update
Buccs 16s play a Midland Schools 15 on Thursday in Dubarry Park with training on Saturday morning at 10.00 as usual. All event details in Teamer as usual.
Barnhall Fixture has been confirmed for social day out before Leinster v Scarlett's match in RDS so please pay your deposit of €10 to Tom as soon as possible. Should the Barnhall match be cancelled for any reason we will go paintballing to Mullingar instead. Travel will be by Bus to Barnhall (Leixlip) and RDS.
The U16s will compete in Sean Stratton festival of rugby in April so pencil this date into your diaries. All event details in Teamer
Events Update
Pitches continue to be unplayable so training will be indoor in the Marist on Wednesday at 7.45. Please bring €2 euro to defray the costs of hiring the hall.
We have scheduled a social trip to Leinster v Scarletts game on Sat 23rd of February in RDS preceeded by a fixture with (Barnhall ?) before the match. Please pay deposit to Tom of €10 as soon as possible.
Next fixture is on Sat 9th of February at 12.00 in Dubarry against Mullingar RFC.
Our first cup match is scheduled for weekend of 17th Feb but this is likely to change because of the backlog of league fixtures and the continuing poor weather.
We have also received invitation to participate in Sean Stratton Festival of rugby in April.

Social Evening
The U16 social evening for parents, players and supporters took place on Wed 19th of December in the Buccs main dressing room and a very enjoyable evening was had by all.

Fundraiser for Buccs Underage
The U 16s have been allocated 2.00 - 4.00 bag packing slot on Friday 14th of December in Dunnes Irishtown to help raise much needed funds for Youths rugby.
If you or your parents could help out at this time or indeed between 10.00 and 7.00 on either Friday or Saturday we would be very grateful.

Marist College win Connacht Junior League in some style
Marist college recorded a historic victory over Sligo in Ballyhaunis on Wednesday 28th of November to win Connacht Junior league.
Congrats to all our U 16 players who were involved with the Marist on this famous occassion.

Athlone crowned Westmeath U 16 County Champions

Match Reports
The first match of the season was played against a formidable Galwegian’s team in Dubarry Park last Saturday. The home team powered into action in swash buckling fashion reminiscent of their march to the Cup semi-final last season. Wave after wave of early attacks were repulsed by the Galwegian’s rear guard who also successfully counter attacked to score the first try of the match. This pattern was to repeat itself throughout the match as the Glaswegians team proved to be more adept at making use of the possession that came their way.
The home side will be disappointed that their contribution to the score board was restricted to two fine efforts by Ryan Jinks and Tristram Ryan, particularly when many overlap situations were spurned, by poor communication rather than by poor execution. However, Abba and his management team will be delighted with the application and work rate of the squad on their first outing. The foward momentum of Messrs’ Hassett, Deehan, O'Meara, Daly and co. allied to the more dextrous footwork and pace of Carty, O'Keefe and Rigney did not go unnoticed by the larger than usual band of spectators.
The Post match delivery by your coaching team was most apt with regard to how your season must progress … "Let the work continue!" See you all Wednesday night on the paddock.

There is a Photographic Album for last season consisting of nearly 1,000 photos of matches, training sessions and our team building trip to Birr Educational Centre.
This is available to parents by contacting Geraldine Kenny @ 086 173 2711 or by calling into Geraldine's office in the Bounty.
Geraldine will copy Album on to your portable device or disk but you will need up to 8gb storage for the photos.
