‘Your Club, Your Country’ Grand Draw.....return tickets to our Administrator asap please

published:Nov  20   2018

All members should return their tickets for the ‘Your Club, Your Country’ Grand Draw to our Administrator Geraldine this week. We urge all members to support this draw which has a super array of prizes on offer. Who would not wish to go to next year’s Rugby World Cup in Japan? That’s the star prize on offer; this trip for two persons could be yours for only ten euro! It is all the more enticing a prospect now following Ireland’s fantastic win over New Zealand last Saturday.

Christmas is coming

The season of goodwill is fast approaching and Buccaneers replica gear could be the ideal Christmas gift especially for the young Robbie Henshaw’s in our underage teams. You can order Buccs jerseys and other attire from Canterbury via our website www.buccaneersrfc.com

We also encourage you to support our sponsors, advertisers and benefactors when shopping particularly at this time of year.

Last Saturday night at the Aviva Stadium was one of those wonderful sporting occasions that yours truly was fortunate to attend. What an atmosphere! It was on a par with Ireland historically hosting England at Croke Park a decade ago. Ireland put in a magnificent display, sustained from start to finish which you have to do against the All Blacks. The World champions may have been a little below par, Ireland’s unrelenting intensity being a key reason for that. But two wins in recent times over the top ranked team is encouraging with the Rugby World Cup now very much on the horizon and consolidates Ireland’s No.2 status. Congratulations to Joe Schmidt, all his backroom team, and especially the players who were truly outstanding. From a Buccaneers perspective, it was so disappointing that injury ruled out Robbie Henshaw but he will be back stronger than ever.

Congratulations too to Buccaneers Touch Rugby Award winners 2018:- Kyra Wildy (Female Player of the year), Rory Silke (Male Player of the year) and Anthony Mangan (Spirit of Touch Rugby). Congrats also to Sean Dempsey who recently won the All-Ireland River Fly Fishing competition.

Membership Subscriptions

Thank you to the vast majority of players and supporters who have paid their annual membership subscriptions. However, some members have yet to do so and they are asked to kindly make payment before the end of November. Players who have not paid their subscription cannot be considered for selection after that date. Players are also reminded of the importance of taking out appropriate insurance. Pirates membership, with its added benefits, is possibly the best value and certainly worth considering by families.
