BUCCANEERS SECONDS have an important Connacht Junior 1A League game when they take on Westport at Dubarry Park on Sunday, kick off 2.30 p.m. Buccs are one point and one place better off than the Bulls and they must make home advantage pay. Despite their loss away to a very strong Ballina outfit, there was much encouragement to take from that display and Buccs will be hoping a further improved performance will keep them in the top half of this league.


BUCCANEERS WOMENS team are also playing at home on Sunday when they tackle NUIG in the Connacht Womens League. Both teams are level on points with two wins apiece in their opening fixtures. The Students will prove lively opponents and provide Buccs with their biggest test to date in a game that starts at 1 p.m.




BUCCANEERS ANNUAL GOLF CLASSIC attracted its biggest turnout in quite a number of years to Glasson Golf Club recently. Although deluges of rain descended on the participants as the event progressed, it nevertheless proved a successful occasion in which tight scoring separated the top three teams. BUCCANEERS R.F.C. gratefully acknowledge the support of all who took part and sponsored as well as the host Glasson Golf Club who had the course in topclass condition on the day. The competition was won a group of club stalwarts on 90 points pipping a youthful quartet by a solitary point while some Offaly football legends skippered by the peerless Mick Grogan were just two points further adrift in third place.


The following were the prize-winners:- 

1st:- Billy McMickan, Bart Flanagan, Eddie Walsh and Michael McBrearty. 90 points.

2nd:- Darren Browne, Neil Clinton, Daniel Ennis and Stephen McGonigle. 89 points.

3rd:- Michael Grogan, Tony McTague, Sean Lowry and Tom Wright. 87 points.

Longest Drive:- David Keenan.

Nearest The Pin:- Eddie Walsh.   




Buccaneers Seconds squad are holding a Table Quiz in The Bounty on Thursday, November 30th at 8.30 p.m. Entry fee is €40 per team of four. Plenty of prizes on offer and complimentary finger food will be served. 




Buccaneers Club Shop will be open on two dates pre-Christmas. The first one takes place in conjunction with a Cake Sale/Coffee Morning in the main function room at The Bounty on Saturday, November 25th. The second one will be held in The Lower Deck on Saturday, December 2nd. These shop days present the ideal opportunity to get your Buccaneers replica gear in good time for Christmas.




Ten superb prizes, including a trip for two to Australia, are on offer in the IRFU’s “Your Club, Your Country” Draw, which takes place next month. Tickets are priced at just €10 each and the proceeds of all tickets sold by the club stays in the club. All club officials including team managers/mentors should now have tickets to sell. The support for this draw is sought from all strands of the club. Tickets can also be purchased at The Bounty or from our Administrator Geraldine at 0861732711. All tickets should be returned to the club by November 21st.
