Girls Blitz success for Buccs Minis
Buccaneers Girls U10 and U12 Rugby Teams hosted a Blitz on Saturday 7th on the main pitch at Dubarry Park on Saturday. There were five clubs representing Connacht and our local rivals Tullamore RFC fielding U-12 and U-10 teams including Connemara All Blacks, Corinthians, Claremorris Colts, Loughrea and Buccaneers. In all over 100 girl players took part and who completely enjoyed the wintery conditions.
Before the blitz, the Buccaneers Clubs Internationals U-18 internationals & Connacht Representative Players – Ivana Kiripati, Faith Oviawe and Zara Kurt-Elli — gave a brief presentation of their enjoyable journey through mini rugby to their current status to the enthralled younger group. The U-10’s played 3 matches and the U-12’s had 5 matches and all played very well in each competitive game.
Afterwards, in the Lower Deck, we had a mini party where players enjoyed well deserved pizza and were presented with a Rugby Ball each courtesy of Connacht Rugby Development Officer Wendy Hickey. The parents, mentors and coaches also enjoyed the coffee & scones break.
Training continues every Wednesday at 6:30 pm for 1 hour and on Saturdays 11 am – 12:30 pm. New players are very much welcome. Girls born in 2008 or 2009 eligible for U-12 and 2010 or 2011 are eligible for U-10. For details contact Michael Dolan Minis Co-ordinator – 087 667 8911.
