CLEAN SWEEP BY CONNACHT U-18’s

published:Aug  28   2018

Connacht Clubs U-18’s enjoyed a clean sweep in the inter-provincial Festival of Rugby played in Limerick over the past week. They kicked off their pathway to silverware by forging a last move 33-29 victory over Leinster and followed that up with a 47-17 rout of Munster. They completed a notable treble when demolishing Ulster 41-15 in their final fixture.

Buccaneers had five players in the squad which was skippered by Darragh Murray from Lisbrock. As well as leading by example, the young Pirate scored two tries. Club mates Leo McFarlane and Harry Balsiger scored one try each. They featured in all three match squads as did Martin Fallon while Sam O’Sullivan suffered an injury in the memorable win over Leinster that ruled him out of the other two matches.

Scoring an average of 40 points per game, Connacht were full value for their triumph. Congratulations to everyone involved.

Meanwhile no less than seven young Buccs featured with Connacht U-17's in their game against Munster Schools & Clubs. Kieran Egan, Ruaidhri Fallon, Deema Feehan, Sam Fogarty, Koronato Kiripati, Mark Mitchell and Thomas Shine were the magnificent seven while injury ruled Adam Flanagan out of that match. Well done, guys.
