BUCCS home to Galwegians in Cup Semi-Final

published:Sep  13   2013

BUCCANEERS and Galwegians have a swift renewal of their keen rivalry when the side’s duel at Dubarry Park, Athlone, on Saturday in the semi-final of the Connacht Senior Cup. Kick off time is 2.30 p.m.

The midlanders should be able to call on a decent squad although last season’s skipper Kolo Kiripati is unfit due to injury while a hamstring problem rules out Callum Boland. However, the Pirates expect to have some of their Connacht Academy players such as David Heffernan, Peter Reilly and new recruit Conor Kindregan in their line-up while Mark Dolan returns after injury. Buccs would then be a much more capable and efficient force and, consequently, a far more even and competitive battle is anticipated in what is both club’s final outing before the Ulster Bank League commences in two weeks’ time.

With players such as Mark Abraham and Shane Casey chasing starting berths for the AIL, it should be a cracker.
