Buccaneers Annual Player Awards event takes place in The Bounty on Saturday week when our Senior, U-20, Junior and Womens players of the year will be announced along with the ‘Club Person of the Year’ winner who will be presented with the Michael Hanley Memorial Perpetual Cup’. Specially commissioned pieces of Athlone Crystal will also be presented to Buccaneers players who have represented Ireland during the season. No less than a dozen Buccs have worn the green which is a splendid achievement for a rural club such as Buccaneers.

Smart dress is the code for this event which takes place on Saturday, May 25th. Tickets €35 each are on sale from our Administrator Geraldine at 0861732711 and early purchase is recommended. DJ Ray O’Reilly will provide the music following dinner and the presentation of awards.




The local and European elections may also be scheduled for May 24th but the real elections on the day will take place at the Annual General Meeting of Buccaneers Rugby Football Club which takes place in The Bounty (Lower Deck) on Friday, May 24th at 8 p.m.




Buccaneers RFC has been chosen by the IRFU as one of the club’s hosting ‘GIAT’ (Give it a try), a rugby initiative to encourage girls aged 10 to 14 years to try rugby. This introduction course, which commenced last Saturday at Dubarry Park, will run for ten weeks. No previous playing experience is required and parents are encouraged to get involved too! Cost is only €10 so why not pop along next Saturday morning to the club and check it out.




The annual Tag Rugby Summer League gets under way at Buccaneers on Thursday week May 23rd. To enter, log on to the IRFU website where you can get further details including entry fee. This popular tournament will run on Thursday nights at Dubarry Park with the first games getting under way at 7 p.m. nightly.




Connacht Rugby will host a Rugby Summer Camp for Boys and Girls aged 6 to 12 years at Buccaneers from August 12th to 16th next. The camp will be overseen by fully accredited IRFU coaches and Connacht players will attend on one day. All who attend the camp for the week will receive a rugby ball, a zip top and a Junior ticket for a home Connacht match. ‘OsKaRs’ DVD


“Buccaneers A Night at the OsKaRs” DVD will be screened in The Bounty on this Friday night, May 17th, starting at 8 p.m. All welcome to come along especially those who participated in the seven movies.
