JORDAN CONROY

JORDAN CONROY returned to the Ireland Sevens squad and promptly displayed his scoring potential that was so greatly missed by Buccaneers when he notched no less than 8 touchdowns in the Moscow 7’s last weekend. There Ireland won the first leg of the ‘2018 Rugby Europe Sevens Grand Prix Series’ in emphatic fashion, scoring 28 tries in all and conceding just one in the 28-7 Cup final triumph over Germany.

CONDOLENCES

Buccaneers RFC lost two staunch and popular members in the passing of MATT VAUGHAN and VINCENT CAFFREY in recent days.

Matt was a lifelong member who held a number of key roles with Athlone RFC. He was a highly competent and respected Fixtures Secretary for many years, at a time when it was not always easy to secure matches against top clubs. But affable Mattie was well up to the task as he was when he was Bar Steward in the old clubhouse. Heartfelt condolences are extended to his wife Kay, son Mark and daughter Claire.

Deepest sympathy is also extended to the wife Patsy and family of Vincent Caffrey. Vincent was a loyal and generous patron of Buccaneers for whom he was our first commercial sponsor. He continued his support, both financially and by cheering on 'The Buccs' for decades.

May their gentle souls rest in eternal peace.
