BARNHALL 25 BUCCANEERS 27

published:Jul  09

Buccaneers U-16s recorded their first win in Leinster when they narrowly overcame Barnhall 27-25. As is their trademark the young Buccs refused to win easy and traded their usual quota of brilliantly executed scores with sloppy defensive errors to deliver an exciting performance on the well manicured lawns of the Leixlip venue.

After being beaten by the same opposition a fortnight earlier in the U-17 Development Cup quarter-final, Buccs felt they had a score to settle and so it proved with the Athlone club triumphing by 22-10.

Connacht U-9 Blitz 2014

published:Apr  08

Fourteen brave Buccaneers U-9’s travelled to Castlebar on Saturday to face the pride of Connacht in the Connacht U-9’s Blitz. They played heroically and showed some potential stars for Connacht might yet emerge from Buccaneers again in the future as they won comfortably against Ballina, Castlebar and Gort. They faced stiffer opposition against Claremorris in a thrilling and tough encounter that fittingly ended in a draw as both sides scored 3 tries each. Great credit to Castlebar for a well run event and super day's Rugby.

Connacht U-11 Blitz 2014

published:Apr  08

Dubarry Park was a hive of activity last Saturday as Under-11's from all over Connacht converged on the venue where Buccaneers co-hosted the Under-11 Connacht Blitz with Monivea RFC. Buccaneers had sixteen teams playing on the day with two of our own participating and acquitting themselves very well, winning all bar one of their games that saw them face off opposition from Sligo, Ballina, Castlebar, Corinthians, Galwegians, Carrick-on-Shannon and neighbouring Creggs. Well done to the Athlone lads who played some great rugby on the day and to their coaches Keith Farnan and Derek Ryan.
