Deepest sympathy is extended to Jackie Treacy and family on the unexpected passing of his wife Pauline. The huge crowds at the funeral and earlier are testimony to the wonderful regard held for Pauline. She was a true supporter and volunteer for Ballinasloe RFC and indeed a stalwart of Buccaneers too. This scribe fondly recalls many a welcome mug of hot tea provided at half-time during matches at Moher Road. She will be greatly missed by both Ballinasloe and Buccaneers clubs but most of all, of course, by Jackie and family. Ar dheis De a anam.

Congrats to Tullamore on completing a memorable grand-slam by defeating Longford in the Towns Cup final. Buccs had a huge interest in this tie with, it seems, virtually half of the players on both teams being recent Pirates!

AWARDS NIGHT / DINNER DANCE ON MAY 17th

BUCCANEERS RFC Annual Awards Night will take place at the club’s end of season Dinner Dance in the Sheraton Hotel on Friday, May 17th. Tickets can be purchased from our Administrator Geraldine or at the hotel. The function will include the presentation of Buccaneers Player of the Year Awards from U-19s up to Senior. The Womens Player of the Year will also be unveiled on the night when presentations will also be made to Buccaneers players who have been capped by Ireland during the season. Live music and dancing will round off the event.

Congrats to Saba Meunargia and Jacob Walshe on their recent caps for Ireland U-19s against England and France. Well done too to David Heffernan, Conor Finn, Mata Fifita, Peter Reilly and Jack Carty who all played for Connacht Eagles against crack Russian club Enesei STM. Carty captained this A team. Incidentally, Connacht Eagles will complete their British & Irish Cup campaign when they entertain Welsh club Newport at Dubarry Park on Saturday, April 27th.
