CONNACHT EAGLES rematch with Cross Keys in the British & Irish Cup is the top fixture at Dubarry Park this weekend. The Welsh team, last season’s runners-up in this tournament, edged the Eagles 17-12 last weekend but the Eagles will be optimistic of overcoming the visitors in Athlone on Saturday. The 2 p.m. kick-off will enable supporters to watch the Heineken Cup matches (particularly Leinster v Clermont Auvergne) afterwards on the big screens at The Bounty.

The annual Buccaneers Ladies Christmas Party takes place in The Bounty on this Friday night, December 7th and it has a topical ’50 Shades of Red’ theme! The event begins with a mulled wine reception at 8 pm and you can continue to “tease your senses” with a 3-course dinner, followed by live entertainment from Terry & Bianca Benson. Santa will make an appearance on the night so please bring a small gift. In keeping with tradition, players from the Senior squad will be on hand to ‘wait and serve’ the ladies. This is usually a very enjoyable occasion with much banter and craic. Kindly contact Geraldine in advance to confirm attendance and/or purchase tickets. Buccaneers Womens squad are holding a TABLE QUIZ in DAN'S TAVERN on this FRIDAY night, November 2nd beginning at 8.30 p.m. Teams of four welcome to participate. Entry fee is €40.

BUCCANEERS FAMILY DAY incorporates YOUTHS and MINIS REGISTRATION and takes place on this SATURDAY, September 29th from 12.30 pm onwards (after morning coaching sessions conclude).
Games including blitz, obstacle course, bouncing castle & face-painting lined up, mainly for the Minis. Family BBQ for all-comers and admission to the opening game in this season’s Ulster Bank League Division 1B between BUCCANEERS and BALLYNAHINCH is FREE!! Yes, that’s right, FREE!! So come along, enjoy the FAMILY DAY and get behind BUCCS as the season kicks off. BUCCS match is at 2.30 pm.

A Bag Pack takes place this weekend in Dunnes Stores, Irishtown, Athlone, in aid of Buccaneers Youths rugby. Volunteers willing to assist on Thursday/Friday/Saturday are needed. A JUNIOR CERT CELEBRATION DISCO, organised in association with Athlone Gardai and the Athlone Drugs Awareness Group, takes place in The Bounty on Wednesday, September 12th. Top DJ playing music from 9pm till midnight. Admission is reserved, and strictly by ticket only. Tickets on sale only to Junior Cert students through their schools. 

'ATHLONE RUGBY 7s & TAG FESTIVAL', sponsored by SMITH'S SUPERVALU, takes place at Dubarry Park, Athlone, over the August bank holiday weekend. Three Sevens competitions are being staged by host Buccaneers club on Saturday 4th with the action scheduled to kick off at 12 noon. These are OPEN MENS, WOMENS OPEN & JUNIOR MENS with a total cash prize fund of €4,000 on offer.
