BUCCS HOME TO UCD

Buccaneers face University College Dublin in the Ulster Bank League at Dubarry Park on Saturday afternoon with the action getting under way at 2.30 p.m. Buccs are still chasing their first win in Division 1A and surely their luck will turn for the better sooner rather than later. They have been decidedly unfortunate in a number of matches so far in what has been a steep learning curve for the squad. Injuries and absentees for other reasons have not helped their cause but the players have continued to play with massive pluck and will take heart from losing bonus points in their two most recent outings away to Terenure College and at home to dual champions Cork Constitution.

GOLF CLASSIC WINNERS 2017

BUCCANEERS SECONDS have an important Connacht Junior 1A League game when they take on Westport at Dubarry Park on Sunday, kick off 2.30 p.m. Buccs are one point and one place better off than the Bulls and they must make home advantage pay. Despite their loss away to a very strong Ballina outfit, there was much encouragement to take from that display and Buccs will be hoping a further improved performance will keep them in the top half of this league.

Murray, Conroy and Henshaw on Ireland squads

BUCCANEERS U-17 captain Darragh Murray has been selected on the Ireland U-18 squad that participated in an international rugby tournament in Portugal over the bank holiday period.  A versatile and immensely talented sportsman, St. Ciaran’s College student Darragh is only 16 years old. He scored a goal for St. Brigid’s in their Roscommon Minor Football final victory over Clan Na Gael and was a key member of the Roscommon U-17 football team that defeated Kerry on their way to the All-Ireland final last August.
