CONGRATS JACK CARTY

published:Feb  25

Congratulations to Jack Carty on winning his first Ireland Senior cap in the victory over Italy in Rome. An unexpectedly tight contest meant that Jack did not enter the fray until the 77th minute but he managed 6 minutes game time and got quite a number of touches in that period. Hopefully, it will be first of many caps for the Barrymore native who has worked diligently in improving all facets of his game from year to year. The hard work and consistent performances have finally reaped due reward for the Connacht fly-half. All at Buccaneers congratulate Jack and wish him well in the Ireland ranks.

BUCCS AWAY TO MALONE IN BELFAST

published:Feb  25

BUCCANEERS are away to second placed Malone in next Saturday’s All-Ireland League Division 1B fixture at Gibson Park, Belfast. Kick off is 2.30 p.m. ‘The Cregagh Red Sox’ will be smarting having been knocked off top spot following last Saturday’s narrow defeat at Naas so Buccs must prepare for a reaction. But the midlanders will have a point to prove too, having left the Belfast side off the hook at Dubarry Park earlier in the season. Then despite a superb 56 phase final move the Pirates did not reap due reward and lost by a solitary point.

BUCCS MUST PASS ST. MARY’S COLLEGE TEST ON SATURDAY

published:Feb  21

BUCCANEERS take on St. Mary’s College in an All-Ireland League Division 1B game that the midlanders simply must win at Dubarry Park on Saturday. Kick off for this crunch encounter is 2.30 p.m. Buccs will be stung from letting five points slip from their grasp in Armagh last Saturday and they have to go for broke in this encounter against visitors who also just pipped the Pirates when the teams met in Dublin last November. The midlanders have let a number of clubs off the hook this season but cannot afford anymore slip ups as the league approaches the final run in. Consequently, a positive response by Buccs is anticipated in this tie sponsored by the Hodson Bay Hotel Group. The Pirates will be hopeful that props Conan O’Donnell and Conor Kenny will be available for consideration for this game while Rory Moloney and Darragh Corbett could also be fit. Simon Meagher is the team’s main injury worry.
