BUCCANEERS R.F.C. extends a massive "THANK YOU" to all who attended the Ireland Open Session at Dubarry Park, Athlone. This gratitude goes to all our considerable number of volunteer stewards and organisers, the huge crowd of well behaved spectators and supporters and, of course, to Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt and his wonderful squad of players and mentors. 

It was a truly memorable occasion that the club can be very proud of. Here's wishing successful Six Nations campaigns for both the Senior and U-20 teams.

IRELAND OPEN SESSION THIS THURSDAY

It’s all systems go around Dubarry Park as Buccaneers RFC prepares for the visit of two Ireland squads to the club on this Thursday morning. The Joe Schmidt coached Ireland senior team will take on the Ireland U-20 side (that has Paul O’Connell as forwards coach) in an Open Training Session getting under way at 11 a.m.

IRELAND OPEN SESSION SOLD OUT

The free tickets for Ireland’s Open Session, to be held at Dubarry Park on Thursday week, were all snaffled up within minutes of being available on Ticketmaster last Saturday. This promises to be a hugely exciting morning at Buccaneers on February 15th and all ticket holders are advised to come along early. Turnstiles will be open from 10 a.m. However, please note that ticket holders only will be admitted.

BUCCS HOME TO TERENURE COLLEGE

BUCCANEERS are home to Terenure College in an absolutely “must win” Ulster Bank League Division 1A match at Dubarry Park on Saturday afternoon. This crunch encounter kicks off at 2.30 p.m. With both teams chasing points for differing reasons, --Terenure striving to achieve a home Top Four semi-final and Buccs desperate to move away from the bottom of the league table – a cracking and committed battle is anticipated.

SECONDS AWAY TO CASTLEBAR IN JUNIOR CUP

BUCCANEERS SECONDS face a tricky assignment when they head to Castlebar on Sunday for a Connacht Junior Cup joust with the Mayo club. The Pirates will need to be at their focussed and committed best when the action kicks off in Cloondeash at 2 p.m. Castlebar lie third in Division 1B but, like this Buccs side, have a tendency for inconsistency. It’s a clash that could go either way and that old sporting term “who wants it most” could be the decisive ingredient.

TABLE QUIZ ON FRIDAY NIGHT

BUCCANEERS U-17’s are holding a TABLE QUIZ on this Friday, January 5th in The Bounty beginning at 8 p.m. Teams of four with an entry fee of €10 per adult and €5 for youths. There will be prizes on offer and complimentary finger food. Here’s hoping for good support for this quiz during the holiday season.
