5 BUCCS PLAYERS IN WORLD CUP SQUADS

published:Jun  04   2019

Five Buccaneers players have been named in two Ireland World Cup squads. Jack Carty, Robbie Henshaw and Finlay Bealham are included in Joe Schmidt’s extended squad ahead of the upcoming World Cup in Japan after the summer. Meanwhile, Niall Murray and Colm Reilly are in Argentina with the Ireland U-20 squad. Both players were members of the Six Nations grand slam winners. They kick off their campaign with what should be a cracker against England this Tuesday (kick off 7.30 p.m. Irish time). They then face Australia on Saturday (kick off 2.30 p.m. Irish time) and their final pool game is against Italy on the following Wednesday (kick off 2.30 p.m. Irish time). We wish them all the best of luck. You can watch Ireland's matches on the big screens at The Bounty.

Meanwhile Bealham was joined in the Barbarians squad by David Heffernan on Sunday, going down narrowly to England at Twickenham despite a try by Heffernan.

BBQ ON SATURDAY

Outgoing President Gordon Ballantyne is hosting an end of season BBQ at The Bounty on this Saturday night, June 8th from 8 p.m. All are welcome to come along. Cover charge €12 and tickets can be purchased in advance at the club.

GOLF CLASSIC

Buccaneers annual Golf Classic will take place at Glasson Country House Hotel & Golf Club on Wednesday July 24th. Entries from teams of four players are invited. Of course, the earlier you enter, the better choice of tee-off times is available. Email to rugby@dubarrypark.com please.

TAG RUGBY SUMMER LEAGUE

Buccaneers Tag Rugby Summer League continues on Thursday evenings at Dubarry Park where the first match nightly gets under way about 6.30 p.m. At time of writing, I understand there are vacancies for a couple of more teams to enter. This can be done by logging on to the IRFU website www.irfu.com to register. Matches are for mixed seven-a-side teams and three females must be on the pitch at all times. Scores by female players get bonus points! Ideally a squad should have 12 players.
