BUCCANEERS commence their Connacht Senior League with an opening fixture against Connemara. The ‘Blacks’ requested a change from the scheduled date of next Saturday as they cannot field then, and the fixture has been brought forward to this Wednesday evening at a “neutral” ground in Galway city. I understand that the two venues originally proposed are not unavailable (the second pitch at the Sportsground is in use by Connacht U-20’s while goalposts are not yet in place at Corinthian Park) so it is likely that the game will now take place at Dangan, the University ground. Kick off time is 7.30 p.m. but supporters are advised to check at the club to confirm location before journeying west. Connemara can be stretched for personnel this early in the season but, hopefully, the game will go ahead as it will be of key benefit to both clubs before the long haul of the All-Ireland League gets under way in a month’s time.

Buccaneers play Creggs in a Connacht Junior League match on this Saturday evening at 6 p.m.
