BUCCANEERS made it over a century of points scored at the weekend when they moved further west on Sunday to Heffernan Park, Ballina, where they held their hosts scoreless on this occasion as they recorded a second Senior friendly victory on a 50-0 scoreline.

Here team mentors got the opportunity to run their collective eyes over some more players including younger fringe guys and try some positional experimentation too although again they would have preferred a more searching workout. This time Buccs totted up eight tries with a much better conversion return of six successful kicks. The foundation for this win was laid by a dominant pack in all facets of play. No less than seven players touched down with Kolo Kiripati dotting down twice. Anthony Hughes, Padraig de Burca, Billy Henshaw, Gavin Kelly, Adam Kennedy and Sean Stapleton were the other try scorers. Kennedy also landed one conversion while Domhnall Corbett kicked five. Kiripati and Kelly were best of the forwards while Stapleton and Corbett caught the eye in the backline.

Head Coach Hendrik Marnitz was well pleased with team effort and all-round good commitment over the two games, although he appreciates the challenges ahead will be much stiffer. Accordingly, he expects his charges have more hard work to be done over the coming weeks but the spirit and spine of the squad is promising.
